If the renter does not submit a completed application within 15 business days of notice from the program, then the court may proceed with the eviction lawsuit.
If the renter is deemed ineligible, their application will be denied and the court will be able to proceed with the eviction lawsuit against them.
Landlords who have already received payments from the rent relief program should be aware that tenants who have been receiving rental relief can continue their relief through March 31, 2022. The State has been issuing e-mails to recipients of the relief asking if they need further assistance. These generally go out once the last payment is made to their landlord. If the tenant has not exhausted their 18 months and seeks further relief, it is usually granted.
